Navistar VT Engine Series

The Navistar VT engine series, produced by International Truck and Engine Corporation between 2003 and 2016, consists of diesel engines designed for heavy-duty trucks. The VT V6 and V8 diesel engines were developed as alternatives to the T444E V8 and are the smallest diesel engines used in Navistar vehicles.

VT engines are used in medium-duty trucks and school bus chassis, sharing many applications with the DT466 inline six-cylinder engine. Competitors include the Cummins B Series and the Mercedes-Benz MBE900 diesel engine.

In 2007, both VT and DT engines were rebranded under the MaxxForce brand name, with model names related to their displacement. From 2003 to 2010, Ford Motor Company used VT engines in various models, selling them as the second and third generations of the Ford Power Stroke diesel engine series. The Ford E series continued to use the VT365 until the end of 2010. In 2011, the Power Stroke diesel engines transitioned to designs produced by Ford.

VT275 Engine

The VT275 is a 4.5L V6 configuration, using a sequential twin-turbine system, unlike the VT365 6.0L V8 configuration, which uses a single variable geometry turbocharger. The VT275 was used in the 2006 Ford LCF (Low Cab Forward) and International CF (Cab Forward) (later known as CityStar) series trucks.

In 2007, the VT275 met EPA emissions standards and was renamed MaxxForce 5. Production ceased in 2010.

VT275 Engine Turbocharger

Ford LCF and International Cab Forward trucks used two versions of the R2S turbocharger. We can differentiate your turbocharger version using a simple method.
